promises and waiting patiently

Singing all of your promises won’t let go of me!

Visited Baby Samuel yesterday at the hospital. He certainly looked good. He has rosy cheeks and looked just like any other full term baby except that he has this tube running into his mouth. He is constantly gaining weight and is about 2.2kg – a far cry from the birth weight which was 890 grams. Ma ma is doing great, driving up and day everyday just to bond with Samuel, 俊恩。 I feel so happy just to be watching him sleep with occasional full stretches, trying to wriggle his hands out of his wraps. Time passes by quickly as I stood there, examining and admiring his features.

News that mama was pregnant brought joy to me as she was told by our Father that she would have a son by the name of Samuel. Mama being relatively new as a believer didn’t know who Samuel was and was told by the Father to read the Bible. Upon discovering that Hannah, the mama of Samuel in the bible was pregnant, she was overjoyed and believed in the Father that the promise will come.

He came albeit after a period of waiting and re-asking if what she originally heard still stand as time passed. Father told her through a Korean Signboard from Hebrews 6:14 “I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply you.”

It is really amazing. What more, the hebrew passage was talking about God’s promise to Abraham that He will have a son and his descendants will be many. The condition was this, Hebrew 6:15 “And thus, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise.” Many times when God speaks, we expect it to be fulfilled immediately, that’s the result of being conditioned by an instant society. When we can get everything instantly, fast and quick, we lose the art of waiting patiently.

1 year after God spoke, Samuel was conceived. Waiting patiently. God’s promises requires us to wait patiently and not lose hope. If God has spoken, don’t give up. Wait patiently.
